Where's The Car?

After church we had to stop at our local Wal-Mart. Emily and I ran in to get the things we needed and Larry and Gabi waited in the car. While we were shopping Larry and Gabi decided to go ahead into the store. Emily and I finished and left without them seeing us. We get to the car and noone is in the car.

Hmmm, I see an incredible practical joke happening. Emily and I get in the car and drive it into a different parking spot so we can watch them leave the store. I have never laughed as hard as I did watching Mr. Engineer and Miss Mathematician walk up and down the aisles looking for the car. Emily and I laughed so hard our sides were hurting!!!! Gabi didn't find it humorous but Larry did congratulate us on a practical joke well done.

Snow Day #8

This is what happens to children that have had too many snow days. I think they have started to loose it. Showers? I don't remember the last time. Same Clothes? I think they have been in these clothes since Sunday - EEWWW Gross!!!!

I did finally convince them to go for a run on the treadmill today.

Hopefully they will be back at school on Thursday. As of now they will be in school through the first full week in June. The next storm is supposed to be snow and ice on Monday and Tuesday. I don't recall agreeing to this weather scenario when we moved here.

Snow Day #7

Yes, you read that correctly. The girls are home for their 7th snow day this year. At the rate we are going their summer will be spent going to school. We only received another 8 inches of snow on Sunday but with the cold and the previous 24 inches there is nowhere to put this 8 inches of snow. The good news is we are not supposed to have anymore snow until Saturday.

This is the week for the standardized test so they are waiting as late as possible before canceling. Yesterday they started with a 2 hour delay but had to close and today they just closed from the beginning. We know the bus can't make it down our gravel road so if they try and just pick up the students on clear roads they would have MANY absences meaning MANY make-up tests.

Larry is supposed to leave for Japan on Friday. With any luck he might make it out in between these two weekend storms.

Sectional Swim Meet

Well they both improved their times but unfortunately they did not make a state cut for Iowa. Emily missed her cut by .52. WOW!! We are very proud of them especially since they have been off for 2 years and have had to adjust to the way Iowa does a swim team.

Donner Coat

You can take the girl away from Indiana but you can't take her away from her favorite swim team!! Yes, she wears this at swim meets even though she is on another team now.

Sectional Preparation

One of the other swim families, who is also one of Gabi's teachers gave the girls these huge Gatorades, a Good Luck balloon and a DQ gift card. They were both beaming when they walked in the door after school!

Valentines Day

Do you know what children receive for Valentine's Day that move as often as our children? They receive new school sweatshirts, of course. It would be so nice to get to use the same school shirts from year to year!!

Girls Swimming

Swim team in Iowa is different than swim team in Indiana. The girls are happy to be back on a swim team and their coach is very kind, but it is different.

Here the only cut they can make is for state. In Indiana they have to make cuts for divisionals and state. They have both been bummed lately because they do not have any state cuts and they are both VERY close to making a state cut. I thought I would just check their times against the Indiana cut times and it hit me that they were both doing very well. If we were in Indiana they would both have had divisional cuts and Emily would have had a state cut. That made both of them feel better and is keeping them motivated to try and get a state cut at their last swim meet. Their last swim meet is next weekend and we are all hoping for the best. We'll let you know how it goes.

WDW Marathon

Larry and I were able to go to Disney World a few weeks ago so that I could finish my 5th and final marathon. We had a great couples only time. I think one of the neatest parts of this trip would be that the girls are old enough now to understand how much we love them and at the same time how much we enjoy spending time with just the two of us. The girls are definitely growing up.

We are now going back to doing only 1/2 marathons. I'm getting too old, tired and too slow. We are contemplating letting the girls do the Disney World 1/2 marathon with us next year. They have both asked to go and participate in the 1/2 marathon and when middle school children want to go with their parents we want them to go with us!! They have even said we could go out for dinner alone. Gosh, how thoughtful!

SNOW

The last time we were in the midwest we had 2 feet of snow. After the 2 feet of snow that's when we moved to the desert. Now that we are back in the midwest for the first time in 2 years how much snow have we had in the past 2 days - over 2 feet. We did NOT move back to the midwest for the snow. I do not care for snow!!!!!

The kids were out of school on Monday, today and again tomorrow. Tuesday they were able to get to school but they were sent home early. The kids had fun the first day but as of tomorrow they will be going to school into June. Now that's not as much fun!!

Our Family

Our family loves all Indiana teams especially the Colts. My daughters are both honor roll students and on the local swim team. My husband is an engineer. My degrees are in education but I currently serve as the official taxi driver and CEO of our moving operations.

1st Post

I have finally decided to try blogging. So why the name of the blog? Our family has moved many times and I am tired of moving. This move finds us back in the midwest, which is a good thing. The question always arises though, Where are we moving next? The ultimate goal is always to move home to Indiana. The chances of that actually happening are slim to none but one always has to dream.
